  • Why choose Body Beautiful (UK) Ltd?

  • We are, at present, the only British based operator specialising exclusively in surgery and healthcare holidays to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Accordingly, your contract is governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Woman Magazine, Britons No. 1 selling classic weekly, recently referred to us as ""The Leading Specialists in Cosmetic Treatments Abroad".

We were also recently featured on BBC1's "How Young Can I Get?", ITV1's "Am I Bothered?", GMTV’s "Lorraine Kelly" and Channel 4’s "Richard & Judy".

We are the first and only operator to offer it's clients full medical screening in the UK prior to travelling to ensure that you are fit and healthy to undergo both the procedures you desire and general anaesthesia. The screening has been carefully developed by leading healthcare specialists in the UK and the Consultants we work with in Malaysia. The pre-operative screens have been set up using "best practice" to evaluate your health before surgery and comprise of no less than 44 separate diagnostic blood/clotting tests. This, in turn, gives invaluable peace of mind.

Our Staff on the ground in Malaysia all speak English fluently and will accompany you every step of the way.

We are not aligned to any one given hospital and have carefully selected, through a rigorous vetting process, only the most experienced and qualified Consultants in their field at some of the country's leading hospitals utilising some of the most sophisticated technology and equipment in the world.

The hospitals that we work with are comparable, if not better, than many private hospitals in the UK. Further, all of the medical facilities that we work with have internationally recognised quality standards. These include the MS ISO9002 or accreditation by the Malaysian Medical Society for Quality of Health (MSQH).

We do not allow employees to use their own vehicles when escorting clients and employ only the services of professional chauffeurs utilising luxury transportation such as Mercedes E class and the like.

We actively encourage clients to speak to the Consultants that we work with to discuss, in detail, their treatment requirements and expectations prior to travel. We do not arrange ad hoc consultation tours in the UK but prefer to arrange consultations by way of video and internet conferencing and general telephone conferences.

We aim to provide a complete 'one stop shop' and, unlike our competitors, have special arrangements in place with leading travel agents to secure the very best flights available in terms of airline, connections and price.

  • I feel uneasy about using a company on the internet.

  • We truly understand and appreciate your concerns. To be perfectly frank, that concern is one of the main reasons that Body Beautiful UK was established. There are, of course, many operators’ worldwide providing surgery holidays. That said, not many are UK based. Clients do, of course, feel particularly uneasy about sending money half way around the world! We are, at present, the only British based operator specialising exclusively in surgery and healthcare holidays to Malaysia. Accordingly, your contract is governed by the Laws of England and Wales. Therefore, any redress that you have is in the UK.

We are a company registered in England and Wales under No. 05245911.

we have now grown to be one of the market leaders in the UK, USA and Australasia for medical tourism providing innovative and cost effective solutions to elective and reconstructive surgery needs without compromising quality. You will have probably visited our website having recently seen us featured on GMTV’s "Lorraine Kelly", Channel 4’s "Richard & Judy" and BBC 1’s "How Young Can I Get" or simply having read many featured articles.

  • What are your payment terms?

  • Unlike many international operators, we do not immediately ask for deposits to ‘hold the price’ or ‘secure surgery’. After the initial enquiry, if you would like to take your enquiry further, all that we would ask is that you complete a medical questionnaire fully and to the best of your belief. We would also ask that you return the same, via email, together with photographs of the areas to be treated to allow the Consultant to review your needs and suitability for surgery. Those photographs will be forwarded to the Consultant in the strictest of confidence. The Consultant would also be delighted to discuss with you your requirements before making your final decision.

Should you then wish to proceed and the Consultant is happy that you are a suitable candidate for surgery and will achieve realistic results, only then can we move forward further. At that juncture, we would ask for a £500.00 non-refundable deposit. We ask for that in order that we can arrange medical screening in the UK. We want to ensure, as far as it is reasonably possible, that you are fit enough to undergo the procedures that you desire and, further, suitable for general anaesthesia. Accordingly, unique to Body Beautiful UK, we offer full medical screening in the UK prior to travel. This, in turn, gives invaluable peace of mind. Our pre-operative screens are set up using ‘best practice’ in evaluating your health before surgery so as to ensure that you are fit enough to undertake the operation in question.

The results of the medical screening will then be immediately passed to the Consultant to review. Once we are satisfied that you are (a) a suitable candidate for surgery (b) have realistic expectations of the results and (c) are fit enough to undergo surgery for the procedures that you desire, only then will we make arrangements with you to schedule your surgery. After all, your health is our primary concern.

We will then make arrangements for you and schedule surgery. At this juncture, we would ask for payment in full to secure your flights.

Finally, 30 days prior to travel, all that we would ask is that you make full payment of the balance of your surgery package price less the non-refundable deposit already paid.

Further, after your pre-surgery consultation with the Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Malaysia, should you decide not to proceed with your surgery then we will immediately refund to you, in full, without question, your surgery package price less the non-refundable deposit, accommodation and airfares. This gives further peace of mind.

There is absolutely no pressure on you at all. We want you to make an informed decision and, of course, this is also a two way process.

  • Why do you recommend only 3 Plastic Surgeons?

  • In terms of the Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons that we propose and recommend, at the end of the day, the decision is down to you. What we try to do is help you make an informed choice based upon our expertise and past experiences of clients. As part of our ‘due diligence’ process, we have spent considerable time and energy meeting many of the leading Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons in Malaysia and inspecting the medical facilities from which they operate and consult. Accordingly, we only recommend Doctor Soma,Doctor Tan and Doctor Fong. All are highly experienced and their résumés are most impressive. Further, all are members of The Malaysian Association of Plastic, Aesthetic and Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons (see www.mapacs.com) of which there are only 37.

The association was created, primarily, to co-ordinate the activities of Plastic Surgeons, encouraging the maintenance of very high standards. This is, of course, the equivalent to B.A.A.P.S. in the UK. All of the surgeons that we work with have The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Fellowship qualification (F.R.C.S).

  • Is it safe to fly after Surgery?

  • Some studies have identified a risk factor that might contribute to the so-called “economy class syndrome”. This results from sitting in a tight space over the course of a long airplane flight.

The added risk of developing a DVT caused by travelling is still disputed, and not all studies agree on the risk. While this added risk appears to be low, it can be reduced even further by undertaking measures such as:

    • Trying to move around as often as possible- taking a walk up and down the aisle or doing some leg stretches while seated, at least hourly.
    • Exercising your calf muscles by going up on tiptoes several times while standing.
    • Wearing loose-fitting clothing and removing shoes while seated.
    • Keeping the legs uncrossed.
    • Drinking adequate fluids – at least 1 litre per 5 hours of flight.
    • Avoiding alcohol as it increases the stickiness of platelets and promotes fluid loss.
    • Wearing graduated compression stockings.

Whilst in Hospital, you will as a matter of course, be fitted with thromboembolic deterrent stockings during the post-operative period. You will be given instructions by your Surgeon to try to move the muscles in your legs after the surgery. If you are confined in bed for a day or two following more major procedures, the Surgeon will advise you to move your ankles and knees even when you are lying in bed. This will keep the muscle pump working and minimise the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis. In certain situations, e.g. lower abdominal operations or where surgery is extensive, you will be fitted with a calf compression pump, which will be used continuously throughout and after your surgery, until you are mobile. Further, the use of prophylactic anti-coagulants such as Clexane, may be considered and used.

Finally, as part of our medical screening process, you will undergo a clotting profile. The tests are aimed at isolating an increased risk to a tendency for the blood to clot and any clients identified with such a tendency will not be accepted for surgery.

  • What implants do your Surgeons use for Breast Augmentation?

  • Our Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons in Malaysia recommend Cohesive Silicone Gel Implants from Mentor.

Mentor is the world leader in breast implant manufacturing, research, testing, and is a supplier of medical products in the United States and 75 countries around the world.

For over 30 years, they have adhered to the highest standards of safety in manufacturing, testing and clinical trials for saline and silicone breast implants. Because of this, they are consistently recognized by Consultants for outstanding product integrity. Mentor is also the only company in the world whose breast implants are made exclusively in the United States and Europe.

While other breast implant manufacturers have come and gone, Mentor has consistently produced high quality breast augmentation.

Further, because breast implants may not last your entire life, Mentor supports your decision by strongly standing behind their Mentor Lifetime Product Replacement Policy. Throughout your lifetime, Mentor will replace, at no cost, the same or a similar type of Mentor breast implant if implant replacement is required due to rupture/deflation.

    Mentor Implant.jpg

Cohesive Silicone Gel Implants are made of two parts: the silicone shell and the silicone gel filling. The first is the outer envelope that is made from a material called silicone elastomer; this is simply a term that means silicone rubber.

Mentor’s Memory Gel™. Cohesive it is, New it isn’t.
The word “cohesive” is a new term being used today to describe the nature of the fill compared to the more liquid fill that may have been used in silicone implants in the early 1970’s. This is not new science, this is not new technology – cohesive is simply a word that’s being used today to describe the “sticking together” nature of the gel. All of Mentor silicone gel-filled breast implants are all cohesive, all the time.

The inside of Mentor's gel implants is filled with their proprietary Memory Gel™. It is their own cohesive gel formulation that makes sure the gel acts as a unit rather than a liquid - it holds together uniformly and retains the natural give that resembles actual breast tissue. It also helps prevent migration, or running, of the gel in the event of a rupture. Mentor have been using this type of gel since 1985.

Mentor offer three degrees of cohesive filling material:

  • Cohesive I, their softest feeling gel
  • Cohesive II, a slightly firmer gel for surgeons/patients wanting a firmer feeling implant
  • Cohesive III, Mentor’s most cohesive gel, providing shape retention with a pleasing level of firmness for optimal aesthetic results

  • We believe that it is important for the client to make an informed choice with their Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon regarding which type and size of Mentor implant should be used based upon a number of factors including, most importantly, the look that is trying to be achieved.

  • What about complications?
  • Your health and well being is our primary concern. We want to ensure, as far as it is reasonably possible, that you are fit enough to undergo the procedures that you desire and, further, suitable for general anaesthesia. Accordingly, unique to Body Beautiful UK, we offer full medical screening in the UK before travel. This, in turn, gives invaluable peace of mind.

We have teamed up with leading personalised healthcare provider, Seryn Medical, to provide this package. Our pre-operative screens in the UK are set up using ‘best practice’ in evaluating your health before surgery to ensure that you are fit enough to undertake the operation in question. Further, where a client intends to undergo multiple procedures, again in the UK prior to travel, we will arrange DVT screening. This pathology screening profile helps to identify those clients who are more at risk than others. We are not aware, at present, of any other operator that offers such screening prior to travel. This, in turn, reduces the ‘risk’ element greatly by eliminating, in the UK prior to travel, unsuitable candidates for surgery. That said, no matter how advanced the technology is and the Consultant’s experience and expertise, there is always a slight risk. By undertaking the medical screening in the UK, we minimise those risks and complications. However, complications can occur.

After the initial enquiry stage, prior to making any commitment, you will be advised in detail of the inherent risks involved. That said, the level of risk appertaining to surgery is exactly the same whether the surgery takes place at a local clinic in the UK or a private hospital overseas. The package costs are fully inclusive although, in the case of a complication, a further charge will be made for the additional stay in terms of ward charges etc. We should also add that all of the Surgeons that we work with do, of course, hold medical negligence and professional indemnity insurance as required by The Malaysian Medical Council.

  • What happens if I am not happy with the results?

  • Fortuitously, at present, we have had nobody that has been unhappy. This, based upon experience, only tends to happen if a client has unrealistic expectations of the outcome post-surgery. If you decide to move forward, what we do ask is that you forward to us photographs of the relevant areas in order that we may pass those on, in the strictest of confidence, to the Consultant.

Before scheduling any surgery and/or medical screening etc, we want to ensure that the surgeon is confident that you are a suitable candidate for the procedures that you desire and that you are going to be satisfied with the outcome.

The Surgeon will discuss with you, prior to surgery, what results you are likely to achieve so as to ensure that you have a realistic expectation. Further, should you have any concerns post-surgery, there will be amply opportunity to raise those with the Surgeon as there will be a number of post-surgery consultations.

We ensure that clients do not return back to the UK until the Surgeon is satisfied with the results and that the client is fit enough to travel and, further, the client is also satisfied with the treatment received.

  • How do I book?

  • Once you have received your Body Beautiful Package based upon your initial website enquiry, if you would like to move forward, at that stage, all that we ask is that you complete a medical questionnaire to the best of your belief and forward to us photographs of the areas to be treated to allow the Consultant to review your needs and suitability for surgery. Those photographs will be forwarded to the Consultant in the strictest of confidence.

The Consultant would also be delighted to discuss with you your requirements before making your final decision. At that stage, once you are satisfied and the Consultant are satisfied that you are a suitable candidate for surgery, we would ask for a £500.00 non-refundable deposit.

Upon receipt of that, we will arrange full medical screening in the UK as well as a DVT screen (for clients undergoing multiple procedures or obesity surgery). The results will then be passed onto the Consultant to review and, if there are no medical reasons to prevent surgery, we will liaise with you in scheduling surgery, arranging accommodation and assisting you with your flights. You will then need to make immediate payment to secure flights and accommodation with the balance of your surgery package price being paid, in full, 30 days prior to departure. Further, should you arrive in Malaysia and decide not to undergo the procedures that you desire, you will receive a full refund less the accommodation/flight costs and the non-refundable deposit.

  • What is the difference between General and Local Anaesthesia?

  • Local Anaesthesia numbs a small (localised) area of tissue where a minor procedure is done. In all minor surgery cases, with the exclusion of dental work, local anaesthesia is given in conjunction with twilight anaesthesia (sedation).

General Anesthesia is a method used to stop pain being felt during a procedure or surgery. It affects the entire body and makes the person unconscious. The person is completely unaware or what is happening. Medication is normally breathed into the lungs and/or injected into the veins, through and intravenous line.

  • What are the risks with General Anaesthesia?

  • Obviously the most feared complication is loss of life. This occurs in 1 out of 10,000 people.

The most common side affect is nausea and vomiting, however most anaesthesiologists give anti-sickness medication through the intravenous line during surgery, which helps minimise this problem.

Less common side affects are low blood pressure, kidney or liver damage, seizure or allergic reactions.

The medical screening that we are able to offer clients in the UK prior to travel will assess your suitability in terms of health for GA and will reduce the risk.

  • What are the risks with Local Anaesthesia?

  • There are rarely complications associated with local anaesthesia, however, they can sometimes occur in the form of allergic reactions, which may cause temporary breathing difficulties. In very rare cases seizures or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) can result from the medication.

  • Do we need specialist insurance for travel?

  • In terms of travel insurance, save for the policy that we have specifically negotiated with Lloyd's of London for Breast Augmentation, regrettably, there are no specific policies for cosmetic surgery as it is an elective procedure and, therefore, a standard travel insurance policy will suffice.

Your health and well being is our primary concern. What we ensure, as far as it is reasonably possible, that you are fit enough to undergo the procedure that you desire and, further, suitable for general anaesthesia before you leave the UK and hence the requirement for medical screening. This, in turn, gives invaluable peace of mind and eliminates unsuitable candidates for cosmetic surgery before further expenses is incurred. That said, no matter how advanced the technology is and the Consultant’s experience and expertise, there is always a slight risk with elective procedures and those risks will be documented and explained to you in order that you may make an informed choice about your surgery. That said, the level of risk appertaining to surgery overseas and abroad is exactly the same whether the surgery takes place at a local clinic in the UK or a private hospital overseas.

The package costs are fully inclusive although, in the case of a complication, a further charge may be made by the hospital for the additional stay in terms of ward charges etc. I should also add that all of the Surgeons that we work with do, of course, hold medical negligence and professional indemnity insurance as required by The Malaysian Medical Council.
